Phenimax × Mr. Sasaki “Authentication Certificate” — a Form of Guarantee
The authenticity of Nambu Tekki cannot be guaranteed by systems or words alone.
In an age when products are traded globally without being held in hand or seen in their place of origin, the grounds on which something can be declared “authentic” are, in reality, extremely limited.
That is precisely why this site chooses a different approach:
authentication through human responsibility.
This certificate of authenticity is issued jointly in the names of Phenimax and
Kazuo Sasaki, a Nambu Tekki artisan producing his work in Mizusawa, Iwate.
One party bears the responsibility of presenting Japan’s authentic craftsmanship to the world.
The other places his own name, career, and judgment behind every piece he creates.
Through their joint signature, each product gains a clear answer to a fundamental question: who guarantees what, and to what extent.
This certificate does not declare superiority, rank quality, or assign market value.
What it records is origin and responsibility.
Where it was made.
Through which processes.
And under whose judgment it was completed.
These facts are not explanations added afterward.
They exist as an inseparable part of the product from the beginning.
A certificate of authenticity exists not to persuade through language, but to preserve accountability in tangible form.
As chairman of the Nambu Tekki Association, Mr. Sasaki holds responsibility not only for his own work, but for the credibility of the region as a whole.
For that reason, his signature carries meaning beyond a single object.
It represents a judgment that the piece is worthy of the culture it belongs to.
Accepting that responsibility—together with his title—is the essence of this certificate.
What Phenimax provides is not merely a document attached to a product.
From the outset, we design a structure in which responsibility is never ambiguous.
In a time when authenticity is difficult to determine,
the solution is to create a condition in which determination is no longer necessary.
This certificate exists for that purpose.
