The Hidden Truth of “Nambu Tekki”

What the world rarely sees.

The name Nambu Tekki is now recognized around the world.
Its solid presence, quiet dignity, and the sense of permanence that comes from an object made to be used for a lifetime have shaped a distinct image in the minds of many.

Yet today, the majority of products sold globally under the name “Nambu Tekki” are not made in Japan.

Behind this reality lies a structural contradiction unrelated to craftsmanship itself.
In China, a local company holds exclusive trademark rights to the name “Nambu Tekki.” As a result, authentic works made in Iwate, the historical birthplace of Nambu ironware, are effectively unable to enter the Chinese market under their rightful name, in order to avoid trademark conflicts.

At the same time, ironware manufactured in China continues to be exported worldwide under the name “Nambu Tekki.”
The name is the same, but the place of origin, the process, and the philosophy behind the work are entirely different. This is the reality of the current global market.

In such an environment, identifying genuinely Japanese-made Nambu Tekki from Iwate has become extremely difficult, even for professionals.
Price, appearance, and product descriptions alone no longer provide sufficient clarity regarding provenance.

Phenimax chose to confront this structure directly.
Our solution does not rely on labels or systems, but on people, signatures, and clearly defined responsibility.

Every piece of Nambu Tekki offered by Phenimax is a one-of-a-kind work, entirely handcrafted in Iwate by Mr. Sasaki, Chairman of the Nambu Tekki Association. We do not handle mass-produced items, nor works that compromise their process.

Each piece is delivered with a certificate bearing the handwritten signatures of both Mr. Sasaki and the representative of Phenimax.
This certificate is not intended to assert superiority or value, but to clearly state who made the piece, where it was made, and under whose responsibility it was created.

Nambu Tekki is neither a health device nor a disposable product.
It is a cultural tool meant to accompany a lifetime. Phenimax believes that such objects should never be separated from their true provenance.
